A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully
dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably
coiffed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved
to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away,
making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in
the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room
was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual
description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had
been hung on his window.
"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having
just been presented with a new puppy.
"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait."
"That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied.
"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like
my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged . it's
how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. "It's a decision I
make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend
the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my
body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the
ones that do.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new
day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in
my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the
bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my
Memory bank. I am still depositing." Remember the five simple rules
to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

I dreamed I had an interview with God.
So you would like to interview me? God asked.
If you have the time. I said.
God smiled. My time is eternity.
What questions do you have in mind for me
What surprises you most about humankind
God answered...
That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then
long to be children again.
That they lose their health to make money...and then lose their
money to restore their health.
That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present,
such that they live in neither the present nor the future.
"That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had
never lived.
God's hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked...
As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children
to learn
To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let
themselves be loved.
To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.
To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in
those they love, and it can take many years to heal them.
To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one
who needs the least.
To learn that there are people who love them dearly,but simply have
not yet learned how to express or show their feelings.
To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it
differently.
To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they
must also forgive themselves.
"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.
"Is there anything else you would like your children to know?"
God smiled and said,
Just know that I am here... always.

There's Hope - Indie Arie Back
When I had a little
I thought that I needed a lot
A little was over rated,
but a lot was a little too complicated
You see-Zero didn't satisfy me A
million didn't make me happy
That's when I learned a lesson
That it's all about your perception
Hey - are you a pauper or a superstar
So you act, so you feel, so you are
It ain't about the size of your car
It's about the size of the faith in your heart
There's hope
It doesn't cost a thing to smile
You don't have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that [repeat] There's hope
Off in the back country of Brazil
A met a young brother that made me feel
That I could accomplish anything.
You see just like me he wanted to sing
He had no windows and no doors
He lived a simple life and was extremely poor
On top of all of that he had no eye sight,
but that didn't keep him from seein' the light
He said, what's it like in the USA,
and all I did was complain
He said - livin' here is paradise
He taught me paradise is in your mind

very time I turn on the T.V. (There's Hope)
Somebody's acting crazy (There's Hope)
